About

A family-run builder, with an architect’s eye.

Finished living room in a refurbished Victorian house

Wandle started in 2009 with one van, one carpenter and a yard off Garratt Lane. Seventeen years later we are thirty-eight people — architects, engineers and our own site teams — and we still only build in south west London.

We named the business after the river that runs from Croydon to Wandsworth, through almost every postcode we work in. Most of our clients live within a few streets of a house we have already built, and most of our work comes from neighbours who have watched us on site.

Keeping design, engineering and building under one roof means one contract, one programme and one person accountable from the first measured survey to the day we hand back the keys.

One contract

Design and build, together

Architecture, engineering and construction under one roof, with a fixed price agreed before we start.

Our own people

No anonymous subcontractors

The carpenters, bricklayers and site managers on your job work for us — the same faces every day.

Neighbours first

Quiet, tidy, considerate

Party walls agreed early, letters to the street before we start, and a site swept every evening.

The team

The people who will design, engineer and build your project.

Screed is down across the whole extension and curing well, so please no foot traffic until Wednesday. The plasterers finished the kitchen walls on Thursday and the steel was signed off by building control.

Next week the sliding door frame arrives on Tuesday, ready for glazing w/c 19 Oct. One thing from you: the splashback tile by Friday, so we can order with the 10-day lead time.

Messages Dan & Laura usually reply within 2 hours

Laura Byrne · Mon 12 Oct, 09:14Morning both — building control signed off the steel on Thursday, so everything structural is now approved. Next inspection is pre-plaster on the glazing wall.
You · Mon 12 Oct, 18:40Brilliant, thank you. Could we see the tile samples on site before we decide?
Dan Okafor · Tue 13 Oct, 07:52Of course. I've left all three on the kitchen windowsill, so have a look this evening. They're labelled on the back.
